Sheona McEwan
Bilingual Therapist & Educator for Children and Families in The Hague & Online
I’m Sheona McEwan, a Scottish–Dutch bilingual counselor, educator, and imagery practitioner with over 20 years of experience supporting children and families. Since 2011, I’ve worked in private practice in The Hague, offering emotional, behavioural, and educational support for children and teens in a warm, creative, and professional setting.
Whether your child is facing anxiety, learning difficulties such as dyslexia or dyscalculia, or emotional challenges connected to school, friendships, or family life, I provide a supportive space to help them grow and thrive.
My BackgroundI bring together a strong foundation in both education and mental health with the following qualifications:
Earlier in my career, I worked as a special needs teacher and school counselor at international schools including:
These roles gave me a deep understanding of the diverse needs children face in different learning environments.
A Holistic Approach:
During my time in Thailand, I became deeply interested in creative and holistic approaches to child development. I trained in mindfulness for children (.b Foundation) and completed certification in Saphire® Guided Imagery with Dr. Catherine Shainberg at the School of Images in New York.
Today, I combine my expertise in education, counseling, and imagery to offer an integrative approach that supports the whole child—emotionally, socially, and academically.
Founder of DreamKids™
Together with Dr. Catherine Shainberg, I co-created DreamKids™, a program that uses guided imagery, waking dreaming, and storytelling to help children access their inner world, manage big emotions, and discover their own problem-solving strengths.
DreamKids™ is especially supportive for:
I also offer professional training for educators, counselors, and therapists interested in integrating imagery into their work with children.
Areas of SpecialisationI offer individual and family sessions—online, at my private practice in Benoordenhout (The Hague), and in collaboration with schools.
