Active Parenting is coming to The Hague!
WHAT is Active Parenting? Active Parenting is an American 6-week interactive course designed for parents and legal guardians of junior school children. The course is facilitated by Sheona McEwan, a trained and experienced school counsellor and Dave Harfield, a UK certified adult therapist. . The course is taught in English.
WHO should attend? The programme complements a variety of parenting approaches, and all primary, elementary and junior school parents are welcome! Parents may attend as a couple or individually.
WHY will this be a worthwhile experience for me?
The programme offers relevant information and practical strategies for parenting issues such as
* discipline & redirecting misbehaviour
* cooperation & communication
* character-building
* supporting children for school success.
The goal is for parents to become comfortable using these techniques to strengthen their parent-child relationship while also providing their children the opportunity to become responsible, confident, and engaged members of their family and community. And we promise to have some fun!

This course is for parents, coaches, teachers and counselors of children between the ages of 5-12.
Are you curious about developing another way to communicate with children in your care? Using guided imagery, you can help them grow in understanding their emotions and develop their inner resources and creativity while also improving your communication with them.
In this workshop, Sheona McEwan, SOI Practitioner, will guide us to look at how we can encourage children to listen to their inner wisdom and find their own coping mechanisms to handle difficult emotions and to problem-solve effectively in challenging life situations. Using short, guided imagery exercises you will experience the exercises that she uses with children. Combining your own insight from the exercises with examples from Sheona’s counseling practice, you will begin to understand how you can use these tools with your children.
Whether you are a dedicated teacher or coach, or you would like to know how you can support your own children as parents, this workshop will give you a toolkit of inspiration and insight. Topics that will be addressed include supporting children with anxiety and stress, managing emotions, challenging social situations and children’s sleep and dreaming challenges. Depending on the group and the participants’ questions, we may address other childhood challenges as well.

About the Teacher: Sheona McEwan is a certified teacher and practitioner at the School of Images® as well as a psychologist & counsellor specialised in working with school-aged children. She earned her BSc in Psychology from the University of Birmingham (UK), a Postgraduate Certificate of Education from Lancaster University (UK), a Masters in Special Needs Education from Lehigh University (USA), and a Masters in School Counseling from Buffalo University (USA). With more than 30 years’ experience working with children in school, child-protection and her private practice she combines imagery tools, healing and counselling for an effective approach to supporting children with emotional, behavioural and educational challenges. Sheona has an international background having lived and worked with children in The Netherlands, United Kingdom, USA, Thailand, Austria and Japan.

Parents may attend as a couple or individually. The course is taught in English.
